yellow bush lupine
A dense gray green shrub growing 3 to 4 feet round. Long stems with yellow flower clusters May and June. It prefers full sun, good drainage, and not too much water. It can tolerate salt winds but may have trouble with inland heat. Attracts butterflies and is quite deer resistant. Bay Area native.
