A delicate looking but hardy, upright bunch grass to 12 inches tall or more with showy,purple tinted flowers held aloft on 3 foot stems. It is found in dry rocky soils, meadows and open woodlands. A drought tolerant grass growing in the coastal and Sierra ranges. Bay Area Native
