An evergreen shrub 2 to 3 feet high, spreading or trailing 3 to 5 feet. Intense scarlet, 1 inch flowers found much of the year but heaviest in spring. Quite showy and a favorite of hummingbirds. Full sun near coast, light shade further inland, quite drought tolerant. Adds color under native oaks. Not hardy below 18ºF
