Western Hazelnut

This spreading shrub or small tree grows 5 to 12 feet. It is deciduous in winter, then produces long showy catkins in late winter, early spring. It has hairy, soft green leaves that turn bright yellow in fall. It has small, flavorful nuts in the late fall. Bay Area Native
